Mein Coffee bitcoin miner is a USB-powered coffee warmer with a built-in Bitcoin ASIC. Designed by I Am GPIO of The Solo Mining Co in collaboration with SideHack of GekkoScience, it turns everyday heat into hashrate: keeping your drink warm while quietly mining Bitcoin in the background.

Measuring roughly 105 × 105 × 42 mm, it’s compact enough for any desk, and stylish enough to live in your home or office without looking like mining hardware. Each unit now ships with a free Solo Mining Co enamel mug, tuned for optimal “hash value” when full of coffee.

How the “Hash Value” works

The Mein Coffee bitcoin miner runs on a target temperature rather than a fixed hashrate. It constantly adjusts its own performance to maintain your chosen plate temperature while keeping the miner within safe thermal limits.

To make this behaviour easier to understand, we use a metric we call Hash Value: the average hashrate over a three-hour test at a 55 °C target. Different things on the hotplate produce different Hash Values:

• Bare hotplate: limited heat dissipation ⇒ lower average hashrate.
• Enamel mug full of coffee: acts as a heat sink ⇒ significantly higher Hash Value at the same target temperature.
• Heatsink + fan or other cooling tricks: pull heat away faster ⇒ can push the average hashrate even higher at 55 °C.

The takeaway: the better you move heat away from the aluminium plate, the more hashrate the Mein Coffee bitcoin miner can safely sustain at your chosen temperature.

Setting up the Mein Coffee bitcoin miner – from box to brewing sats

Getting started is simple, even if you’re new to mining:

1. Plug the included USB-C power supply into Mein Coffee.
2. Wait for it to boot (the screen may stay blank for a short while).
3. Connect to the “Mein Coffee” Wi-Fi hotspot and join it to your home network.
4. Open the IP address shown on the OLED screen in your web browser.
5. Configure your mining pool, wallet address and temperature target.

Once configured, the web UI lets you check hashrate, temperature, uptime and other stats from any device on your network.

Pool options & solo mining

Mein Coffee will work with most standard Bitcoin mining pools, and is especially fun for “lottery” style solo mining on pools such as Public Pool and CKPool.

You can also pair it with a Rebel Bitcoin Node if you want to run your own node and mine through Public Pool to a machine you control.

Beyond the specs, Mein Coffee is designed to be a desk companion: a quietly glowing, walnut-and-aluminium object that keeps your drink warm and sparks conversation. Whether you’re using it in the office, at home or in a studio, it’s a functional art piece as much as a miner.
