Bitaxe Gamma V-Rex heatsink – rear VREG cooler

The Bitaxe Gamma V-Rex heatsink is a tiny rear-mounted cooler with a massive job: taming the notorious VREG (voltage regulator) hotspot on the Bitaxe Gamma. CNC-machined from custom-extruded aluminium, it bolts to the back of the board and pulls heat straight out of the regulator so your Bitaxe can run harder and stay happier.

V-Rex is designed to work alongside your front heatsink – whether that’s a Bitchin’ Sink, a custom cooler or another front-mounted solution. The rear, through-hole design gives you a solid mechanical connection and reliable contact where it matters most, without relying on sketchy stick-on heatsinks that fall off as soon as things get warm.

Installation of the Bitaxe Gamma V-Rex heatsink

Fitting the V-Rex is straightforward:

1. Power down and unplug your Bitaxe Gamma.
2. Apply the supplied 1 mm thermal pad to the VREG on the rear of the board (peel the plastic from both sides).
3. Align the V-Rex heatsink over the VREG and board holes.
4. Bolt it through using your chosen front heatsink / mounting hardware.
5. Power up the Bitaxe and monitor VREG temperature in AxeOS or your preferred stats view.

Once fitted, the Bitaxe Gamma V-Rex heatsink becomes part of a solid front-and-rear cooling stack, helping stabilise the regulator when overclocking or running higher ambient temperatures.
