The Rebel NodeRunner Package
At its core, the Rebel NodeRunner package is a complete stack:
- Bitcoin node on a refurbished Intel i5 mini PC
- Bitaxe Gamma open-source Bitcoin miner (Black Edition or Angel Share Edition)
- Public Pool solo-mining software running on your own node
Together, they let you run a full Bitcoin node and solo mine directly to it using Public Pool, an open-source solo Bitcoin mining pool available as an app on both Umbrel and Start9.

Software & compatibility
- Compatible with both Umbrel and Start9 node operating systems
- Start9 can be pre-installed for you on the mini PC
- Umbrel must be installed by you due to licensing, but the process is beginner-friendly
- Public Pool is available as an app on both Umbrel and Start9 for solo mining to your own node

Requirements
To complete setup of your Rebel NodeRunner package, you’ll need:
- Monitor or screen (VGA or Mini DisplayPort supported)
- USB keyboard and mouse
- 4 GB (or larger) USB stick to flash Umbrel or Start9
- Ethernet cable
- Stable, unmetered internet connection (the Bitcoin blockchain exceeds 550 GB and continues to grow)
Quick start
Plug in the mini PC and Bitaxe. Flash Umbrel or Start9 onto your USB stick. Install Bitcoin Core. Install Public Pool. Point your Bitaxe Gamma at your new node.
Now you’re solo mining: no external pools, no third-party logins, no compromises – just your node, your miner and your rules.
